Diablo Water District owns, operates, and maintains the distribution system that keeps dependable water ready at your tap whenever you need it. Behind the scenes, our dedicated team maintains the infrastructure that keeps the water distribution system operating efficiently. Through our industry-leading replacement program, we proactively inspect, maintain, repair, and replace critical water system facilities to ensure reliable service today while investing in the infrastructure needed to meet our community's future water needs.
Our team maintains more than 175 miles of water mains, over 1,700 fire hydrants, and conducts the annual testing of more than 4,500 backflows to help protect your water supply from contamination.
Every day, our field crews work to keep the water system operating safely and reliably, including:
- Performing emergency water system repairs 24/7
- Replacing and repairing valves
- Replacing fire hydrants
- Conducting preventative maintenance throughout the distribution system

The water system is a shared connection between Diablo Water District and our customers. We are responsible for maintaining the water distribution system, including water mains and the service line up to the water meter and/or backflow. Responding to Repairs and Emergencies
Ensuring reliable access to water remains our top priority. Our dedicated staff is available 24/7 to promptly respond to emergency repairs and address issues that may impact water service.
All water main and service line repairs are completed in-house by our experienced field crews, allowing us to respond quickly, resolve leaks, conserve water, and minimize interruptions to our customers’ service. Through ongoing investments in technology, equipment, and training, we continue to improve how we maintain our system and provide the reliable service our community depends on.
